Check your access
If your institution licenses Lighthouse Academic, access is by IP range and works without a login on campus. Off campus, sign in through your institution or use the proxy your library provides.
Every article's abstract, references, metrics and citation record are open to everyone regardless of licence. What a licence buys is the full text of subscription articles and books — roughly a third of what is on this platform; the rest is open access and needs no licence at all.

- Journals
- All six titles, or by discipline. Three are fully open access and are excluded from pricing automatically rather than being bundled in and charged for.
- eBook collections
- By subject area and by year, covering monographs, edited volumes, textbooks and proceedings. Perpetual access on purchased years.
- Proceedings
- Conference volumes as a standing order or individually, published within sixty days of each event.
- Reference & textbooks
- Course-adopted titles with unlimited concurrent access — a textbook licence that caps concurrency fails in precisely the week it is needed.
- Archives
- Complete backfiles to each journal's first issue, sold once and held permanently.
Licensing
- Academic & government
- Priced on FTE band and Carnegie-equivalent classification. The price list is published; we do not quote different numbers to different institutions of the same size.
- Corporate & health
- Collections and content-on-demand for organisations without a traditional library, including per-article purchase with an institutional account.
- Consortia
- Consortium terms available, with the member list and the per-member price visible to every member. Confidentiality clauses on price are not something we ask for.
- Trials
- Thirty days, full platform, no obligation and no auto-renewal into a paid licence.
- Catalogue changes
- Title transfers, cessations, publishing-model changes and new starts are announced at least ninety days ahead, in writing, with the effect on your holdings spelled out.
Our licence permits interlibrary loan, course reserves, text and data mining, and accessibility conversion without asking us first. If a clause seems to forbid something reasonable, it is a drafting error — tell us and we will fix it.
Open access agreements
- Transformative agreements
- Read-and-publish arrangements that cover both your institution's access and its authors' APCs in a single fee, with the publishing volume reported quarterly rather than at renewal.
- Approval workflow
- Your nominated approver sees each eligible article at acceptance and can approve or decline within the agreement's allowance. Declining does not affect the editorial decision, which has already been made.
- Waivers on top
- Automatic APC waivers for authors in low- and lower-middle-income countries apply regardless of any agreement, and are never counted against your institution's allowance.
- OA book partnerships
- Institutional and funder support for making a specific monograph open access, acknowledged on the book's own page.

- Free, for everything you license, updated monthly. Downloadable in full or as a delta since your last load.
- KBART & discovery
- KBART files maintained for the major knowledge bases, with holdings pushed to the main discovery services so your catalogue matches your entitlements.
- Remote access
- Shibboleth and OpenAthens federated access, plus IP ranges and EZproxy stanzas we maintain and publish.
- Librarian portal
- One place to manage entitlements, administrators, IP ranges, branding and alerts, with a change log showing who altered what.
- OpenURL & linking
- Stable DOI-based links throughout, so a citation resolves to your copy rather than to a paywall your users already have a way past.

- COUNTER 5 compliant
- Standard views, downloads, searches and denials. Double-clicks and known crawlers are discarded before counting, which is the whole point of the standard.
- SUSHI harvesting
- Automated collection into your ERM, so nobody spends January downloading spreadsheets.
- Denials, prominently
- Turnaways are reported alongside usage rather than buried, because a denial report is the honest evidence for whether a licence is the right size — in both directions.
- Open access usage too
- Reported separately, so you can see what your users read that you did not pay for. Some libraries find it changes the renewal conversation.

Everything published on this platform is deposited with independent preservation services and is registered with Crossref, so the DOIs resolve whatever becomes of us.
- Post-cancellation access
- You keep permanent access to the content years you paid for. This is in the licence, not in an assurance.
- Independent archiving
- Deposited with a dark archive that can trigger public access if we cease to publish. Its trigger conditions are in your licence too.
- Persistent identifiers
- DOIs for every article, chapter and book, and ORCIDs for contributors, deposited to Crossref within a day of publication.
- Accessibility
- Platform tested to WCAG 2.2 AA. Where a specific item falls short, we would rather you told us than assumed we knew.
