Lighthouse Evenings
The book, in a room, with readers in it
Launches, festival stands and our own reading series in three cities. Author stalls at the major fairs start at ₹99 — the number is deliberate, because a first book cannot pay ₹40,000 for a table and those are exactly the books nobody meets.
What we do
The work, and what it costs
Author stall
A table at a Lighthouse fair. Priced so a debut can stand at one.
- A table and signage
- Stock handling and card payments
- Listed in the fair programme
- Two-hour signing slot
Bookshop launch
A real launch in a real shop, with an audience that did not all come because they know you.
- Venue and bookseller liaison
- Host or in-conversation partner
- Invitations and press
- Stock, signing and photography
International fair
Representation at Frankfurt, London or Delhi, whether or not you can travel.
- Stand presence and catalogue listing
- Rights meetings arranged
- Material printed and shipped
- A written report on every meeting
How it works
Four steps, in this order
Pick the room
A launch in the wrong shop to eleven people is worse than no launch. We will say if we think it is the wrong room.
Fill it
Invitations, press, and the bookshop's own list — which is usually the half that actually turns up.
Run it
Someone from the house is there. Stock, cards, signing queue, photographs, all handled.
Use it afterwards
The photographs and the recording become the next six weeks of campaign material.
We will not sell you a launch the book is not ready for
An event before the stock has landed, or before there is anything to review, spends the one moment a book gets attention on a night that cannot convert it. If the date is wrong we will tell you to move it, even though the invoice is the same either way.
